Stop Saying Weapons of Mass Destruction

Fri May 06, 2005 at 07:44:28 AM PDT

The administration marched us into war by threatening us with nuclear weapons. They said Saddam was close to having nuclear weapons, and he was going to provide them to terrorists. Why do you think the forged Niger documents were so important? They were the centerpiece of the march to war, and they should be the centerpiece we hang them on.

It turns out he had neither nuclear weapons nor connections to al Qaeda.

We have allowed the right to frame this issue by using the soft words "Weapons of Mass Destruction." This lets them weasel out and say "We found some old sarin cannisters."

Don't let them get away with it. Stop saying that WMDs were not found. Start saying that the promised nuclear weapons were not found.

Propagannon: GOPUSA Cheney Connection

Sat Feb 12, 2005 at 06:00:32 AM PDT

One of the GOPUSA board members is a mouthpiece for a personal friend of Cheney's. This isn't a smoking gun with all the interconnections of the right, but I wonder if it could be the path for the Plame memo leak.

Kerri Houston is the Vice President of Policy for Frontiers of Freedom. This organization was formed by Wyoming Senator Malcolm Wallop, who has close ties to both Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney.

GOPUSA and Newsmax Board of Directors

It's pretty clear that one direction the Guckert investigation needs to take is exploring the network of right wing partisan news organizations: Talon, GOPUSA, Newsmax, UPI, Washington Times, ...

I noticed that last night GOPUSA scrubbed its site of information about the Board of Directors. On the grounds that if they are hiding it it must be good, let's save it for posterity in case nobody else has: The Google Cache.

Let's Write a Contract for America

Thu Nov 04, 2004 at 06:04:53 AM PDT

We have all heard that the left didn't have a unified message. We need to run for something instead of against something. I think we need the equivalent of the Contract for America, let's call it The Democrats' Promise. Basically, we need to point out the differences between us and the Republicans, communicate it effectively, and come up with a set of concrete steps that we will either take or die trying. And we need to get out in front and frame the issues the way we want them.

So let's get to work and try to decide what they are.

I think that the heart and soul of the Democratic party is that we protect the weak. This show up as gay rights, women's rights, and civil rights, as well as freedom of speech and freedom of religion. It also shows up in preventing the few from enriching themselves by destroying the environment. These are winning issues.

So how do we push them?
